About Me
Andrea Jordan
Licensed Professional Counselor
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and National Certified Counselor serving clients in Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. I received my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, and I furthered my studies of anxiety, OCD and trauma treatment with the International Trauma Training Institute, the International OCD Foundation, the EMDR International Association, and the Medical University of South Carolina. I have advanced training in a variety of protocols, including EMDR, Exposure & Response Prevention therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Cognitive Processing therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, and Narrative therapy.
I love what I do. My job as a counselor resonates with a core part of me that enjoys forming deeper connections with people. We all have a “story” made up of our beliefs, experiences, and personality traits, and this shapes who we become and how we interact with others. Your story is important, and sharing your story in a nurturing environment is a powerful catalyst for healing and change. Counseling gives us the opportunity to look deeper into your story and delve into your perceptions, motivations, and behaviors. Often, clients come to me when they are at a low point in their lives. We sift through feelings of shame, anger, sadness, depression, and fear. I consider myself fortunate to walk alongside people and witness the bravery and resilience it takes to confront their deepest pain. The greatest moments in therapy happen when I see people break through their personal barriers and reach new levels of hope and peace. Transformation is possible and feels amazing!
If you are ready to heal from trauma, overcome anxiety, and enjoy healthier relationships in your life, I would love the opportunity to work with you. Reach out today and let’s take the first step together.

Pricing & Insurance
Insurance
I am an in-network provider with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield and Optum/United Healthcare. Depending on your particular plan or coverage, services may be covered in full or in part. Please contact your insurance provider to verify your coverage for mental health services. It is important to understand:
Are mental health benefits covered by your plan?
Do you have a deductible? If so, how much is it and have you met it yet?
Do you have a copay or coinsurance? If so, what is the amount?
Is there a limit on how many sessions your plan will cover in a calendar year?
Do you need a referral from a Primary Care Physician in order for services to be covered?
Self-Pay
I offer sliding scale pricing for self-pay clients. Please contact me directly to inquire if you would like to self-pay at a lower rate. For clients who are out-of-network, I provide monthly Superbills that you can submit to your insurance provider and seek reimbursement depending on your insurance plan. Please check with your insurance provider to verify your covered amount. Many insurance plans provide reimbursement for all or part of out-of-network services.

FAQs
-
People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. Therapy can help you if you are having trouble processing a difficult situation, if you’ve noticed negative changes to your mood, if you feel stuck in unhealthy patterns, if you’re having difficulty in your relationships, if you’ve experienced a trauma, or if you just need a confidential, supportive person to talk to. Your therapist will work with you to get to the root cause of your symptoms and equip you with the tools you need to cope with present and future challenges.
-
When you schedule your first appointment, you will receive an email with an invitation to create an account in the client portal and complete the required paperwork. You will also receive a meeting link for our sessions. It is a good idea to test your speakers, video, and microphone prior to our first session.
When it is time for our session, it is important for you to ensure that you are somewhere private and free from interruptions or distractions. This is especially important if we are doing EMDR. I also advise clients to set aside at least 15 minutes after each session to do something relaxing. Sometimes we process some heavy or intense emotions. It can be jarring to return directly to work or school. It’s also beneficial to take time to reflect on the things we’ve discussed and how you feel.
-
Our first session is devoted to discussing your symptoms, problems, background, relationships, and goals. You will do a lot of talking while I listen and ask questions to get to know you better. The first session is also an opportunity for you to ask questions and bring up any concerns. We will discuss treatment options and decide on the best course of therapy.
-
Confidentiality is the cornerstone of the therapeutic relationship. Counselors are committed to preserving the privacy and confidentiality of the client. There are, however, a few exceptions to this. These include:
If I think you are a danger to yourself or others
If there are cases of child or elder abuse
If there is a court order and a judge subpoenas my client paperwork
Otherwise, everything you tell me stays just between us.
-
Therapy is an investment in your mental and emotional health, and like any investment, it takes time and commitment. Growth is a journey, not an event. In fact, one of the biggest predictors of client improvement is consistency. Showing up on time for sessions, completing homework assignments and practicing skills between sessions are all ways you can set yourself up to get the greatest benefit from our time together.
It is also important to be honest about your feelings and experiences. Remember, your therapist is a safe and supportive person and will not judge you.
Lastly, please speak up if something isn’t working. There are a variety of techniques and approaches we can use, and I won’t be offended if we need to reassess our treatment plan or try something different.escription
